New Year 2022 -- Carry On!

When I awoke on New Year's Day last year on January 1, 2021, I confess that my mood was not one of rejoicing and hope.   I normally take time on New Year's Day to review my thoughts and goals from the previous New Year's Day, but my heart was not in it that morning.  I didn't have the emotional energy to think about what my goals were for the year 2020, or to deal with new plans and goals for the year 2021.  After spending most of the day reading, and spending time with the family,  I finally pulled out my journal and reviewed what I had written on January 1, 2020, and I came to find that I actually had accomplished quite a few of my goals for the year 2020.  I was pleasantly surprised at the number of things I was able to accomplish in that crazy year in spite of the challenges of a world wide pandemic, earthquakes and other natural disasters, social distancing, closing of churches and temples, a very volatile political year here in the US, and my own many inadequacies.  I felt confident enough to make some simple plans and chose HANG ON!

  • Continue to pray every day to learn God's will for me.
  • Develop stronger Faith, Hope and Charity.
  • Serve others.
  • Declutter.
  • Organize.
  • Simplify.
  • Create.
My hopes for 2021:
  • Miracles
  • Mercy
  • God Will Prevail
So, how would I rate my life in the year 2021?  I made some progress and hope to do more of the same this year.  My hope for the year 2022 is to CARRY ON with the same goals and hopes for the year 2022, and today I wish to reflect on some of the many blessings from this past year.  There have been so many good things!

  • Return to in person church meetings, including teaching the children's primary class
  • Return to in person work
  • Vaccines for Covid
  • Return to Temple attendance and service in October, November and December
  • Birth of our 4th beautiful grandchild, and a trip to visit her and her parents
  • Visits here at home from all of our children and grandchildren
  • Family reunions and get togethers
  • Health and Safety for our family
  • DD2's new job offer so she can move closer to home
  • DD3's purchase of her first home
  • DD4's new job and apartment
  • Dear Mother In Law's successful Hip Surgery and move to new assisted living center
  • Answers to much fasting and many prayers.

Yes, let's carry on and work for an even better year in 2022, and do all we can to help build the Kingdom of God and share the Gospel on both sides of the veil.   ( see 3 Nephi chapters 21 and 22)
